We will invest £6 billion a year in the NHS, impose a cap on social care costs and ensure that mental health services match those for physical health

NHS, Mental Health and Social Care

Conservative cuts have left our National Health Service in dire trouble. Waiting lists are longer, operations are cancelled and A&E departments are under pressure as never before.

The Liberal Democrats are clear that our NHS must provide high quality care to all - for mental health as well as physical health.

Only the Liberal Democrats will put a penny on income tax to raise £6 billion which will be ring-fenced for health and social care.

Chris says:

"My mother and her mother before her both worked as nurses.

The National Health Service has always been important to me. But when my son was born, his mother and I saw first hand just how important it really is.

Following a difficult birth, Oliver was rushed to the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Bristol where doctors and nurses worked hard to make him better. Will will forever be grateful to those staff and I am sure that many people locally have had similar positive experiences of the NHS.

If I am elected as your next MP, I will work as hard as I can to stand up for the NHS"

Dementia Tax

The LIberal Democrats will fight again the Conservative plans for a 'Dementia Tax' and press for a cap on care costs. No one should have to sell their home to pay for their care.
