Parvis Jamieson for Pewsey Vale East
Hello. I am Parvis Jamieson and I'm asking you to vote for me as your Lib Dem candidate in the May Wiltshire Council elections.
Life has changed so much since the last Council election in 2017: two general elections, three governments and in the last 12 months, three lockdowns. Our shops and schools are still closed and we still don't know when the economy will re-open.
We're now looking at the prospects of tax rises and budget cuts to compensate for Government overspending in the fight against COVID. As for Brexit, it's an almighty mess of red tape, lost opportunities and lost business. Essentially, we have a Government with a majority of 80 that has been flailing without focus or direction.
The Lib Dem Group in Wiltshire has ambitious plans to eliminate the Tory majority on the Council in 2021. We believe that continued cuts to local services, together with a recession brought on by a disastrous Brexit will decimate our local services.
Who am I?
I grew up in Kent and I was still a teenager when my family moved to Sussex. After a 30-year career in financial services in London, my wife and I moved to Shalbourne five years ago.
A chartered accountant by training, I now serve on the boards of Wessex Archaeology and Wiltshire Citizens Advice.
I take a strong interest in local issues, particularly housing and employment.
I was the parliamentary agent for our candidate in the last election and I'm currently treasurer of the Constituency Party. I've been a Lib Dem member for over 10 years.
There's so much we can do to make a difference.
