Tom de Bruijn for Ludgershall North & Rural
I have lived in Ludgershall for 16 years having moved to the area from the Netherlands in 2005. I attended the local primary and secondary schools only having left Ludgershall for brief period of three years to study Medieval and Early Modern History at University. I returned in 2019 and started a job working in partnership with the British Army in Upavon. Itself highlighting the important link that exists between the area and our Armed Forces. An affinity I share with many people in our community.
I am standing as candidate for the newly created ward of Ludgershall North and Rural as I believe we need a new voice to represent the interests of each member of the different communities that will make up this new ward. The communities within Ludgershall North and Rural deserve someone who listens to their concerns and works hard to remedy them.
I will endeavour to work tirelessly to meet the concerns faced by each of the local communities and further ensure important issues that impact those same communities are brought to County Hall.
Should I be elected my top priorities will be as follows:
- Improve the abysmal state of our roads by securing more funding; whilst simultaneously improving their safety for motorists and pedestrians alike. Bringing the different communities together to discuss ways in which we as a United community can take direct action to ensure our roads are safe for all especially children and elderly residents.
- Fight for fair and adequate funding for our invaluable community services. The services we depend on for our physical and mental well-being. The same services that have been reduced year after year when the need for them has never been greater. To secure funding that will offer projects to help combat antisocial behaviour but also to remedy the anxieties felt by those most vulnerable remembers of our society.
- To launch community initiatives supported by Wiltshire Council to keep our streets and green areas clean and free from litter but also to work on improving our infrastructure as to accommodate more environmental modes of transport that benefit our united community. Allowing us to stay more connected
- To work with local businesses to revitalise the local economy as more people move to the area. Making sure more opportunities are available to those in this area.
There is of course much, much more that I wish to achieve over the next four year to get the best deal possible for Ludgershall North and Rural.
I admit I do not have a vast amount of expertise when it comes to local governance. However, I do have the drive, work ethic and above all love for our community to ensure the voices of the people of Ludgershall North and Rural are heard loud and clear in County Hall.
We require a new direction and I would be honoured to work on your behalf to see it realised; to see the spirit restored to this wonderful yet often forgotten part of Wiltshire.
Vote for me and we can work together to restore the beating heart to our communities. United in our desire for better.
