What Alan has done in local communities?
Alan has focussed on providing support for the elderly, vulnerable individuals, youth, and the learning disabled since living in Wiltshire over the last twenty years. Previously Alan has been a Chair of a School Governing Body and a Chamber of Commerce as well as campaigning on several issues.
Within Wiltshire, Alan has been a treasurer of a Youth Club and a Compliance Director of a Credit Union. He is a past member of the Devizes Running Club and completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 2015 in support of the Military Charity PTSD Resolution. Alan was a Musician in The Regimental Band of The Coldstream Guards and has a strong affiliation with the military.

Alan was a Fellow of the Life and Pension Advisors in South Africa and has four International Quality Awards for the marketing of financial products. He was also a project manager for The Gauteng Department of Health, refurbishing twenty-eight health facilities in the Johannesburg area with funds provided by The World Bank. Alan has also worked in the Middle East as an International Financial Advisor.
More recently, Alan has been awarded a BSc degree from the Open University and a Masters Degree by Nottingham Trent University.
While researching workplace stress and wellbeing for a Masters Degree, Alan worked as a Unison Trade Union Official based at Wiltshire Council in Trowkbridge and supported Unison members in the Public and Private sectors.
Alan also worked in the social care sector and observed the effects of cuts on essential services. Alan demands better quality services, not cuts in services.
