Angelika Davey for Devizes East
I am Angelika Davey and I want to represent Devizes East, my home for the last 33 years, as your Liberal Democrats county councillor.
A little bit about me:
I was born and brought up in Germany and came to England in 1982. Two years later I became a British citizen because I wanted to be able to vote.
In 1988 we moved to Devizes and since then Longcroft Road in Devizes East has been my home. A year later I joined the Liberal Democrats, joined the committee, and became treasurer of the then Devizes branch before it merged with Marlborough. I stood, sadly unsuccessfully, for Town and District in 1991 and 2002. With hindsight it was good, as my personal and work life changed, and I wouldn't have been the councillor I wanted to be.
In 2006 I started my own business Angelika's German Tuition & Translation which took all my time and energy.
Fast forward to 2021, I now mainly help German learners with my books and online courses and teach fewer face to face lessons.
And I have time to get involved in politics again.
As somebody who has taught in Wiltshire primary & secondary schools and Wiltshire College, and as a former school governor I have a special interest in education.
I am also interested in local issues and I want to hear your concerns. I might not be able to help but I will not stop searching until I get an answer for you.
I love living in Devizes. I love shopping in our local independent shops and going for walks along the Kennet and Avon canal or Roundway Hill. And just like you, I want our town to stay a lovely place to live in.
