Alan has focussed on providing support for the elderly, vulnerable individuals, youth and the learning disabled since living in Wiltshire over the last seventeen years. Previously Alan has been a Chair of a School Governing Body and a Chamber of Commerce as well as campaigning about other issues.
Within Wiltshire, Alan has been a treasurer of a Youth Club and a Compliance Director of a Credit Union. He is a past member of the Devizes Running Club and completed the Edinburgh Marathon in 2015 in support of the Military Charity PTSD Resolution. Alan was a Musician in The Regimental Band of The Coldstream Guards and has a strong affiliation with the military
Alan was a Fellow of the Life and Pension Advisors in South Africa and has four International Quality Awards for the marketing of financial products. He was also a project manager for The Gauteng Department of Health, refurbishing twenty-eight health facilities in the Johannesburg area with funds provided by The World Bank. Alan has also worked in the Middle East as an International Financial Advisor.
More recently, Alan has been awarded a BSc degree from the Open University and a Masters Degree by Nottingham Trent University. While doing research on workplace stress and wellbeing for the Masters Degree Alan worked as a Unison Trade Union Official based at Wiltshire Council in Trowbridge and provided support to members employed in the Public and Private sectors.
Alan has also worked as an agency worker within a number of Care Homes in Wiltshire and has observed and experienced the frontline effects of cuts on essential services. As a Wiltshire Unitary Councillor Alan will argue for quality services not cuts in services.
Alan has campaigned for and against many issues over the years including campaigning against the snoopers charter, a campaign to object against the sale of personal income tax data to private companies, the campaign to remain in the European Union, campaigning for the adoption of Functional Medicine protocols and further research in metabolomics, and campaigning for support for sufferers of Myalgic Encephalopathy.
Alan is a Dignity Champion for the elderly, the learning disabled and vulnerable individuals and respectfully asks for your support to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community and in which no-one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.
